High above the earth and out in space
Among the stars and planets
Away from meteorites and comets

Spinning on an axis and orbiting the earth
With craters deep and wide
Your gravitational pull controls the tide

With changes in size from new to full
You wax and wane
And shine bright again and again

The only natural satellite of the earth
You fill our night sky
And are gazed upon by many a curious eye
