When I was a child

When I was a child
I mixed oil and soap
hoping in the best
for my future work
and now
that time has passed by
the bonds between atoms
are the reason of my days.

I remember that child,
all the things he learnt,
while I plan my experiment
smiling to a mass spectrometer.
