DNA is not simple
Gene expression is the end result of a series of molecules
Interacting in convuluted, seeming impractical ways
Creating a spore, a seed, a hand
ATP sparking like fireworks
I try to understand

If this then that, then that, then this
Changes of gene expression differentiate
Octipodes from monkeys
Neither birds nor fish exist
Though human foetuses have gills
My revision, endless lists

I am a rube goldberg machine
The difference between eyes and skin and liver
the result of signals in specific order
Neurons sparking, a similar relay
The difference between anterior and posterior cells?
Less than a second's delay.
