Close the book

one final time,
one last rhyme.
Set it down
and shut your eyes.

Can you hear the sun
shining through the haze?
It begs for attention
and craves
your discovery

Pick up the pen;
can you feel the words
that drain,
detain, devour
and destroy?

Do you feel

a rush?
Let go

of your pride.
Defences descend
into chaos
but you're beginning
to realise

the picture perfect
pristine painting
is crumbling,
cracking,
creasing.
But time keeps
running...

Unwind the clock

and
watch
their
hands

melt;

losing track
of a lifetime.

Can you comprehend
the magnitude
of disestablishment?
Or see its new direction

whereupon the time
defined falls
behind the curtain
of another frame
and suddenly

disappears

into realms
long forgotten.

Alone.

Yet
to walk upon
the mountains
and gaze upon
the stars;
eccentric
curiosities
will tell us who
you are.

You are lost
on a journey
through the unknown:

so...
