The Reason We Science

There’s a reason we work hard, sometimes through the night,
some of us underground, away from sunlight.

There’s a reason we crunch numbers and draw complex graphs,
we can read hidden messages, disguised by the maths.

At times we may feel lost, confused or depressed,
but the truth is we know that science is a test.

If we attack it, creative, with effort and passion,
we may be rewarded in a glorious fashion.

But like a dying star's light,
glory ultimately fades.

The real reason we dance with this curious power,
is beauty in the Universe and the view from this tower.
