Shed some light on the situation

Photon, a golden ray of sun
Travelling through cold space
Eight short minutes to reach us
Come to kiss Earth’s face

Will you reach the ground
Or be lost in the smog
Churned out from factories
And the cars’ daily slog

Perhaps you fall in the ocean
Drowning in our waste
Search for the fish
Find our disgrace

Are you looking for trees
To help them grow
They don’t feed people
So they had to go

But maybe you’ll find a solar panel
Become electrical power
Then someone can drink
And have a hot shower

Discover a smart city
Efficient and bright
Clean fuels and happy people
Running all night

Do we look blue and green
Or grey and black
Eight short minutes to reach us
Shed some light on the situation
