I pity the Newtonian scholars, proudly declaring “Exegi Monumentum,”
only to be proven wrong by their students.

I pity the Laplacian kind who strived to find order in chaos,
and having only found demons.

I pity the naturalists constrained by their idea of truth,
who therefore reject the far greater truth of Camus, Dostoevsky, Szymborska.

I pity the new deacons of demise, them crafting and worshiping their Moloch;
and although the Moloch’s virtual, his howl is very real…
