The blur

Drowning in misery am I,
Blood, sweat and tears is all I can see,
Bang. Crash. Thousands lie dead,
I am but a lone ember in this raging inferno,
My life hanging by a thread - a thread about to break,
All I can smell and taste is this petrifying smoke.

My head is spinning once again,
Images flash in my mind's eye:
The atomic bomb falling on Nagasaki,
People like ants scrambling from a giant foot,
Drowning in misery am I.
